Without Jill Ohanneson, Revenge wouldn’t have any of the amazing clothing and styles that you see on your screen each week. Since the beginning, Jill and her team have worked tirelessly to create the deliciously beautiful world of Revenge, from Emily’s most devious getups to Nolan’s popped collars and more, and Jill was fantastic enough to do an email interview with us!

Fans submitted questions via our Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook pages and after sorting through the questions and submitting our favorites, here are her wonderful answers. We’re splitting the interview into 2 parts, so check back this weekend for Part 2.

Question: There’s a lot of recurring colors in Emily’s wardrobe, reds, whites, and of course blacks, do you dress her based off a specific theme in the episode or coincide it with a color that’s really in at the time?

Jill: I definitely base Emilys color palette on what’s happening in each scene of the script. Color is one of the ways I can help to tell the emotional story of the character at any one time. But I also love to play with whatever colors are trending as well as long as it helps to define the character!

TheNolanRoss asks: What are your favorite brands to dress Nolan in? Do you look for brands you already know or play around with up and commers too, and how do you decide that’s the look you want for Nolan.

Jill: Nolan is so much fun to dress. I am an equal opportunity shopper and have purchased things for Nolan anywhere from hi end designers to Target to Ebay and secondhand shops. If it feels like Nolan’s fun & eccentric character I’ll buy it anywhere!! Also I have tried to have Nolan grow up a but in his clothing each season. From the more childish combos of season one to the more sophisticated polished look of season 3. I feel that eccentric characters can become caricatures if they dress the same crazy way all the time so I try to always change it up!

Question: What’s it like to design costumes for a show that’s notorious for its dramatic flair?

Jill: it’s incredibly fun and the job of a lifetime to get to design the costumes for REVENGE!! I love combining what’s happening to the actors in the script with current fashion trends in a way that helps tell the story of the drama and romance! Im convinced I have the best job in the world!!

Is Revenge really not doing a flash-forward this season? It’s the show’s signature. –Jason
I can confirm that – tradition be damned — there will not be a flash-forward inRevenge‘s Season 4 premiere (airing Sept. 28).

TV Fanatic: What’s the goal going into season four?

Sunil Nayar: I think that one of the overarching goals in sort of this process, and one of those that’s really, I have to say, wonderful, is that we’re a fourth year show and this network has so much other great stuff coming up and just to have kind of the amazing support of the network all the way up to Paul [Lee, President], who’s still such a giant fan of the show.

I think the season premiere is going to be full of surprises, full of unexpected payoffs to our cliffhangers and I think the big question that we’re looking to answer this year as Emily and Victoria and as David comes back this year is that people are asked to change who they are yet again and that is really the battle of who people have been.

Emily has been Emily Thorne for so long and the idea is what does it mean to be Amanda to her? Victoria’s been next to Conrad for so long and what does it mean for her to be a free woman now? David’s been wherever David’s been for so long and what does it mean to be back in the world? And so I think one of the things that we are fascinated to explore is to figure out who our people are and who they really are struggling to try to be and who they’re actually capable of being.

TVF: Are we getting a direct pickup or has some time passed?

SN: There’s a lot going on and like this show always does, there’s like little bits of time jumps so we always think there’s sort of the fun things to embrace as we jump forward. So I think you’ll see where the episode picks up. We found a perfect spot to do it.

Revenge (ABC)
Premieres: Sunday, September 28 at 10/9c

Where We Left Off: David Clarke is alive?! Before the earth-shattering reveal, Emily’s three-season-long mission appeared successful with Conrad Grayson implicated in the crimes and his estranged wife Victoria locked up in the looney bin. But Emily’s daddy resurfaced very much alive, taking revenge in his own hands by killing Conrad.
What’s Next: Emily is still mourning the loss of Aiden, but she’ll have to snap out of it when Victoria gets out of the psych institute and plots her own revengenda. The return of David (James Tupper was upped to series regular) will also “shake Emily to her core,” executive producer Aaron Harberts tells us. “What if he says, ‘I’m disappointed in you’ and what happens when he crosses into Victoria’s story and says, ‘She did some things to you, but you don’t really know why [and] there might’ve been a reason.'” As for Jack, who was taken into custody for Charlotte’s kidnapping, he’ll be asking himself how far he’ll go to protect Emily and her relationship with her real sister. Harberts adds, “Emily has to start confronting all of these things she’s left undone and how is she going to clean up messes with the people who have taken such good care of her. As we launch into season 4 Jack becomes center of that journey.”

Agents of SH.I.E.L.D.‘s Asgardian temptress will next be working her wiles on ABC’s Revenge.

TVLine has learned that Sochi-raised Elena Satine has been cast in the recurring role of Louise, the “black sheep” daughter of a wealthy Southern family. Louise is described as “slightly unhinged,” though she has only the best of intentions (within the context of her own warped logic).

Further details on her storyline are under wraps, but I can tell you that she does meet one of the major characters under “interesting” circumstances.

In addition to her turn as S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Lorelei, Satine’s previous TV credits include a run on Magic City, NCIS and Smallville (as Aquaman’s wife Mera).

Revenge Season 4 premieres Sunday, Sept. 28 at 10/9c.

Jeaneen: I am still rooting for Jack and Emily on Revenge! Please tell me there’s hope for them.
Come on, there’s always going to be hope for those two! “There’s one person who knows who Amanda Clarke is and it’s Jack,” EP Aaron Harberts told us. “There’s someone else, and it’s David, but we really love the idea that Emily’s going to turn to Jack to ask for help in reidentifying and redeveloping her identity. He’s going to be key this season, really key this season.”

The Hamptons is getting a Privileged new resident.

Brian Hallisay is joining Revenge‘s upcoming fourth season in the recurring role of Ben, a new friend of Jack’s and a local cop. Fun-loving and easy going, he’s drawn to Jack’s world and especially to the people in it (including, presumably, Emily).

Hallisay is coming off a two-season stint on Lifetime’s The Client List, where he met his now-wife Jennifer Love Hewitt. Prior to that, he did an arc on Ringer and was a regular on (the aforementioned) Privileged. He’s currently recurring on Mistressesas, coincidentally, a character named Ben.

He’ll first appear in Revenge‘s Season 4 premiere on Sunday Sept. 28 at 10/9c.
